New to the Kayak world but big contenders in the world of stand up paddle boards, also referred to as SUP, is the brand “Aqua Spirit”. A trusted well known brand for SUP users, though lesser know for its most recent addition to their range - The Aqua Spirit Kayaks.

They’ve used there in depth knowledge of high PSI SUP’s and created Drop stitch floor Kayaks with high PSI making them the ultimate go to option for inflatable kayaks.

The Aqua Spirit Kayak comes in two different models, the one person version and the two person version. Its the two seater one I’m sharing our experience with in this blog.

Although rumour has it the one person option is equally as good, only with one less seat and smaller!

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

• Multipurpose use, Suitable for lakes, rivers, canals and calm seas

• Extremely good handling and Tracking - Stays straight, even when not paddling. No spinning round at all

• The front is steady, no zigzagging when paddling like lesser examples of inflatable kayaks

• Fast kayak to paddle, can go at a really good speed

• Extremely stable - Me along with numerous of my family & friends have used it and managed to stand up, jump in the water to swim and then clamber back in to the boat without issue

• Easy to get in and out the boat due to its stability, minimal risk of capsizing in my opinion

• Drop stitch floor which hugely improves performance and comfort, High pressure side Chambers further enhance this

• 2x Large Tracking Fins - Means the boat is easy to paddle and requires minimal effort when compared to other Kayaks without Fins

Cons: (Minimal cons that I can think of)

• If using the 2 person alone, I find it difficult to lift in and out of the water by myself, due to the size and weight of it. It paddles ok with solo use, but portage is tricky when using it solo (I’m a 5ft 2 Woman)

• I prefer inflated Kayak seats as I find them more comfortable

• Large Fins mean that if entering the water via a shelving beach you’d have to get your feet wet, in order to walk it out to where it floats (to avoid damage to the Fin/bottoming out). It can be used without the Fins attached if preferred though.

We’re super impressed with the performance of this kayak, it’s faster than other inflatables we have and always wins the race when we challenge our friends to a race up the river. It tracks like a dream, remaining straight even when not paddling, no spinning round and no zigzagging of the front when paddling either.

Friends and family that have used it have all commented on what a delight it is to paddle and how much better it seems than non drop stitch floor kayaks.

A particularly popular feature is how stable it is, so much so that you can stand up in it to jump in the water and my husband has even sat on the side with his legs in the water with me sat in the front seat. My friends and I are into wild swimming and we’ve all been able to climb back into it from the water without capsizing it.

Its had a lot of use by a range of different people who have shared days out on the water with us, from total novices to experienced kayakers, and not a single capsize to date, no punctures, no signs of wear and tear. Nothing but positive Experiences for everyone.

This kayak really does have all the features and Spec needed for a fantastic day spent on the water.

It provides fantastic value for money and is at the cheaper end on the scale in terms of budget for a two person drop stitch kayak.
